Cardiovascular Technologist Working Conditions

Diagnostic medical sonographers and cardiovascular technologists and technicians, including vascular technologists held about 112,700 jobs in 2014. The industries that employed the most diagnostic medical sonographers and cardiovascular technologists and technicians, including vascular technologists were as follows:

  • Hospitals; state, local, and private: 68%
  • Offices of physicians: 20%
  • Medical and diagnostic laboratories: 7%
  • Technologists and technicians are on their feet for long periods and may need to lift or turn patients who have a disability. Because technologists and technicians are sometimes needed to help when physicians diagnose and treat patients in emergencies, working conditions for some include evening, weekend, or overnight work hours.
